For its product development department Drywood Coatings B.V is looking for a: PRODUCTDEVELOPPER / COATING-TECHNOLOGIST
In this position you are responsible for the development and upgrading of existing waterborne coatings on wood which are mainly industrially applied.
Activities are carried out in projects with shorter and longer lead times according to predefined requirements. During the product development process the right balance has to be found between demands from outdoor durability, external certifications, easy of application at the customers, adaption to colour mixing systems, application in industrial production and raw material costs. The activities are both carried out independently and jointly with various colleagues within the organization under supervision of the R&D Manager.
Activities consist of:
• Independent selection of the right mix of raw materials, this often in close cooperation with raw material suppliers.
• Formulation of prototype recipes
• Systematic testing of relevant coating properties in wet and liquid state.
• On site testing of prototype formulations with industrial customers.
• Selection and up scaling from prototype formulations to its final form.
• Transfer of recipes to a suitable form for industrial production and combination with colour tinting systems.
• Defining and improving specifications and quality control of products.
• Providing answers to technical requests from production and sales.
• Reporting of these activities
For this position we are looking for a person with:
• A Bachelor Degree in a technical field
• At least 3 years of experience in formulation of waterborne coatings, preferably applied to wood and used industrially.
• A creative and practical orientated mind-set that can bridge sometimes contra dictionary demands.
• Capacity to plan its own work and monitor progress.
• Good communication skills (also in English)to various levels and the willingness to acquire basic knowledge of the Dutch language if you are not a native speaker.
